Part 3 Inventions 1
Question 1: What invention do you think has had the greatest impact on people’s lives in your country?
解题思路:
此题重点问的是“in your country”, 可以回答来自中国的发明,如指南针compass, 纸paper等。
Sample Answer:
There have been many inventions throughout history that have had a great impact in China, but perhaps one of the most important ones is paper. Paper was invented in China during the Han dynasty. It made it possible to create and share information on a massive scale, leading to advancements in education, science, and culture. So yeah, it's probably one of the most significant inventions in my country.
Question 2: Do you think technology has improved our quality of life? Why or why not?
解题思路:
此题可以从正反两方面切入。一方面说一说科技给生活带来的便利;另一方面说一说科技产生的不利影响。
Sample Answer:
Well, on the one hand, technology has undoubtedly improved our lives in many ways. For example, medical technology has led to breakthroughs in treatments and cures for diseases; communication technology has made it easier to connect with friends and family who live far away, and has enabled people to work remotely and stay productive from anywhere in the world. But on the other hand,it has also had negative impacts on our quality of life. For example, the overuse of technology and social media has been linked to mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and addiction. So overall it's multifaceted, and i'd say it depends on how we use it, how much we use it, and what specific technologies we're talking about.
Question 3: What invention do you wish had never been invented and why?
解题思路:
此题需要注意题目中的否定词never, 过去完成时had never been invented. 可以讲核武器(nuclear weapons)、社交媒体(social media)、监控科技(surveillance technology),并重点强调它们对生活和社会发展的不利影响。
Sample Answer:
I think the invention of nuclear weapons has been one of the most destructive and regrettable inventions in human history. Once they are used in wars, there will be radiation that make people sick for a long time. That's really inhuman and cruel. In addition, perhaps certain technologies, like social media or surveillance technology, have had negative impacts on our privacy, mental health, and democracy. The constant surveillance and data collection enabled by these technologies can be invasive and lead to abuse by governments and corporations.
