Part 3 Getting Lost & Directions
Question 1: Do you think it’s easy or difficult to find your way in a new city? Why?
解题思路:
此题可以辩证拓展,先讲一讲在新环境中找到方向并不容易,解释原因;再说一说有哪些办法可以更轻松地探索城市。
Sample Answer:
Well, this can be challenging, especially if you're not familiar with the area or if you don't speak the language. However, there are many resources available to help you navigate a new city, such as maps, GPS devices, and public transportation. It's also helpful to do some research ahead of time, such as reading about the city's layout, transportation options, and major landmarks. So even though it can be hard, there're still many ways to explore a new city successfully without getting lost.
Question 2: Why do some people not like to ask others for directions?
解题思路:
经典的原因题型可以尝试先总后分结构。此题思路包括:害怕(fear)、骄傲和独立性(pride and independence)、语言障碍(language barriers)等。
Sample Answer:
I guess different people may have different explanations. Some people may feel embarrassed or ashamed to admit that they don't know how to get to a certain place. They may worry that asking for directions will make them look foolish. Others may prefer to figure things out on their own, rather than relying on others for help. They may see asking for directions as a sign of weakness. And for people who don't speak the language of the place they are visiting, asking for directions can be especially challenging and intimidating.
Question 3: Do you prefer using maps or asking locals for directions when you are lost?
解题思路:
如果在第三部分考官问到了个人情况,建议可以先从个人偏好出发,再辩证地拓展其他人的想法,体现思维的开阔性。
Sample Answer:
For me personally, maps can be more helpful in providing a visual representation of the area, giving us an idea of the layout of the streets and landmarks. And I don't feel so comfortable talking to people i don't know. But there're also many people out there who think it's a better idea to just ask locals for help, as they provide up-to-date information, and sometimes even give us personal travel tips or advice. That can be really nice, too.
