Outline
· Problem: will be staying on campus during the semester break, but the dorm is closed; need to find housing for 2 weeks
· Solution1 （+ disadvantage）: Stay with a couple of friends that live in an apartment not too far from campus + her friends will be on vocation and have different schedule with her
· Solution2 （+ disadvantage）: Get special permission to stay at the dorm + not cheap
· Your opinion: solution 2
Reason 1: too noisy to live with friends in the apartment
Reason 2: Quiet in the dorm; do research work
Sample Answer
Well, the girl is faced with a problem that during the semester break, she will be assisting Prof. Clark to do some research work for a couple of weeks. However, since students are not allowed to live in the dorm at that time, she is greatly concerned where to live. And then two solutions have been taken into account. The first one is turning to her friends for help who live in an apartment in the neighborhood and are willing to provide her with accommodation. And secondly she is persuaded to apply for a two-week dorm from the university. If I were the girl, I would prefer the second solution because I’m afraid she would realize it tough and rough to concentrate on her research and study if living with her friends because it’s the vacation, so that they would relax and entertain themselves like throwing a party till late at night. And it is the dorm that would offer her a desirable and favorable place to focus on her work. Therefore, with solution two, I’m sure her problem can be well solved.
