题目:
Some people think that it is more beneficial to take part in sports which are played in teams, like football, while other people think that taking part in individual sports is better, like tennis or swimming. Discuss both and give your own opinion.
范文:
Sports have become a crucial part of people’s leisure activities and children’s education. However, it is still debatable whether team sports or individual sports are more beneficial. Both views and my opinion will be outlined in this essay.
Sports played in teams can offer people benefits that are hard to find in other sports. The most obvious one would be teamwork skills which can only be learned while working in a team. For instance, it is common to see students playing football after school. No matter how different these students are, they need to try their best to work out the differences and find their way to work together to achieve the same goals. Another advantage of team-sports would be building up relationships. This is especially true when it comes to entering a new school or workplace. By playing sports like basketball or volleyball, people can soon get to know each other and start bonding, which will make the new environment less scary and more friendly to the newcomers.
On the other hand, the merits offered by individual sports are also irreplaceable. For people who are interested in developing their sports skills, playing individual sports means that more time can be spent on practicing, instead of finding ways to better cooperate with their teammates. Besides, for amateurs, individual sports can teach them how to motivate themselves. Especially in sports like swimming and marathon, when people find it hard to persist, they need to find their inner strength and inspire themselves when there is no encouragement from the crew, coaches, leaders and teammates. This kind of intrinsic motivation can be quite useful in real life.
In my opinion, I believe both individual and team sports are rather valuable, as we cannot live without the benefits they bring us, including working and bonding with others through group activities, as well as focusing on skills and inspiration on our own.
