范文:
Compared the ideal approaches in dealing with plastic wastes, to produces less and to collect as well as recycle more, the prevailing methods for governors are to burn them or dump them in landfill sites. In real situations, however, it seems more awkward that residents and local authorities just litter and let them cover the earth surface. This has caused problems to animals and the global environment and methods are to be adapted to save them.
The scattering of this trash leaves various problems. Firstly, marine animals are becoming the victims of white garbage floating in the sea, as more reported cases show that plastic wastes, bags in particular, not only look like jellyfish snack but give off similar odor as well. This olfactory trap makes sea turtles and other marine life alike prone to eating, getting entangled and even suffocated in plastic debris. Secondly, white pollution caused by plastic objects also wreaks havoc on the city landscape with litter-strewn streets and polluted waterways. Waste incineration also intensifies greenhouse effect. Lastly, although landfills may be a proper temporary method to deal with them, they occupy a substantial part of our growingly tight living space. And the chemical structure of most plastics renders them resistant to many natural processes of degradation and thus they are expected to remain for thousands of years.
To better solve problems aforementioned, some promising methods can be employed. From their original source, producers should make less of them or find substitutions. For instance, fast food chains are now adapting paper straws and take-away bags. Besides, governments should also promote less or multiple use of plastic products and even plastic-free lives. Moreover, their collection and recycling should be stricter and more encouraged. However, these methods are somehow unrealistic in economical contexts because the current cost of paper production are generally higher than its plastic competitor and the rigorous control brings up government budget. Therefore, last but the most viable, some scientific breakthroughs are desperately needed and to apply. As may be known to you all, new degradable types of plastic are on their way to manufacture and a kind of bacteria is found and able to consume the garbage. The only obstacle now is to reduce to cost and utilize the means in a large scale.
To conclude, plastic wastes have posed adverse impact on our earth by contaminating our land, ocean and life of all kinds. Concerted efforts by various entities to conserve our planet through regulations and technologies are in dire need
