Question 1:
What are some popular attractions that people like to visit in your country?
Sample Answer:
Well, I think nowadays, people, especially young people, like to go to theme parks like Disneyland and Universal Studio. I believe a Universal Studio has just been opened in Beijing and its tickets got sold out the moment they were available online. Other than that, places of natural beauty are also quite popular, say, West Lake, Jiuzhai valley national park, and things like that.
Question 2:
Do old people and young people choose different places to go on vacation? Why?
Sample Answer:
I would say so. I mean, young people tend to be energetic and adventurous, so they might prefer places that are new or interesting, like the amusement parks I have just mentioned. On the other hand, old people tend to be conventional and nostalgic, which means they are more likely to visit some historical sites. Another difference is that old people usually cannot tolerate long-distance travel as much as young people can, so young people will make international trips more often than old people.
Question 3:
What do young people and old people think about when making travel plans?
Sample Answer:
Well, I would say old people, at least old Chinese, will make the most use of their time when they head out, so they like to have a really packed schedule. You know, when they travel to a place, they will visit multiple spots within a short period of time and just take a quick look at everything. In contrast, young people may prefer to do things at their own pace, so some of them like to explore an area thoroughly before moving on, while some even choose not to make plans at all and just take their trip as an adventure or a journey of discovery. Other than that, I think budget plays a big part in old people's travel plans while it's not as important among young people.
Question 4:
How do people find out about a new place?
Sample Answer:
Well, nowadays, most people know a place through the Internet. We've got plenty of videos and shows that introduce you to the foods, cultures, and attractions of different places around the globe. In the past few years, travel vlogs are gaining popularity because they grant you a more personal perspective to look at a place. On top of that, people may refer to travel guides when they make travel plans. I mean, these guides usually offer comprehensive information necessary for a trip, like the best time to go, things to do, food to eat, places to stay, etc. Other than using the Internet, I believe people will also ask their friends who have been to those places before. They may not receive as much information from their friends, but they may get to inquire about things that they are interested in instead of taking all the information, including those they don't need, in at once when they browse through the Internet.
