Question 1:
Which form of vehicle is more popular in your country, bikes, cars or motorcycles?
Sample Answer:
Well, private cars are ubiquitous in urban areas in China, as they are more flexible and a lot more affordable compared to the past. Plus, they provide adequate space for a whole family to go on a trip. Electric scooters are getting all the rage these days, basically because they are speedy, and you don't need to worry about things like parking. That being said, bikes are still popular in some cities where public bicycles are provided. They serve as a complement to public transport so that people can ride all the way home from bus stations or subway stations. In short, it's hard to tell which one is more popular, as people use it according to different purposes.
Question 2:
Do you think air pollution comes mostly from mobile vehicles?
Sample Answer:
Absolutely yes. I can't tell the exact percentage that car emission contributes to air pollution, but it must be enormous. Though we are having more green vehicles, the number of cars and trucks powered by fossil fuels is still on the rise to meet people's needs. We have to admit that they emit a great number of greenhouse gas which is a major source of global warming, as well as other harmful pollutants, which have a bad effect on human health. But that being said, planes and chemical plants also play a part.
Question 3:
Do you think people need to change the way of transportation drastically to protect the environment?
Sample Answer:
Well, this is a tough issue. I think it is beneficial in the long run to make a transition of transportation, I mean, by adopting more environmentally friendly means of transport, like green vehicles. But the thing is it would be unrealistic if we carry out this project in a radical way. For one thing, green transportation, which is powered by renewable energy, costs a lot more than traditional ones, which makes it unaffordable in many countries, not to mention the cost of other supporting facilities.
Question 4:
How are the transportation systems in urban areas and rural areas different?
Sample Answer:
Well, I'm not an expert in transportation or urban and rural planning, so I can only say something based on my observation in life. Cities are normally more densely populated compared to the suburbs, which means there's a higher frequency for city dwellers to travel from one place to the other in a relatively small area. Thus, the overall network of transportation in cities could be way more complicated, including all sorts of means, like buses, metros, trams, and private vehicles compared to rural areas. Another obvious difference is the number of public transports, which we normally don't see many in the countryside, as there's not a high demand for commuting to work or school.
