Describe a family member made you proud You should say
who this person is
when this happened
what this person did
And explain why you felt proud

I ’ d like to talk about my cousin, who won the MVP of an important basketball game in his school last year. My cousin’s father is my father’ s younger brother, and he is 4 years younger than me. Actually we haven’ t spent much time together because we live in different cities. But his whole family would visit us every year during the Spring Festival. He used to be a naughty boy, but became witty but shy as he grew up.
Him winning the MVP was quite a surprise to me, actually. Because in my memory, he had been kind of a quitter for quite a couple of things. So I never had thought that he had actually kept practicing basketball. He used to learn Kong Fu when he was in primary school. But after two years of learning, he still cannot turn somersaults successfully, let along doing some tricks or whatsoever. Then he decided that Kong Fu was too tedious and football became his new hobby. After several rounds of trying and giving up, I simply lost my interest and stopped paying attention to what he does. So that’s why my jaw dropped when I heard about his achievement in basketball.
My uncle told me that my cousin practiced almost every day after school and he often went back home, soaking wet and worn out. It took him two years to get some improvement. He had thought about quitting for many times, but he never did. I was so touched when I heard that and I felt happy and proud for him. I was concerned that he would give up anything easily and become a quitter, but he proved me wrong. Even though there had been some detours, he finally found what he truly loved and learnt how to persist. I believe he would be successful in many other aspects due to his effort.
