Describe a rule that you don’t like. You should say
What it is
Why you don’t like it
How others feel about the rule
And explain whether you’ve followed the rule.
Sample Answer:
I’m going to talk about a rule that I don’t like, which is “students are not allowed to use electronics during school time”. It’s been a hard and fast rule since the school was established, and I guess it was issued on the grounds that electronic devices, such as phones, tablets and laptops could cause massive distraction and the school wanted the students to stay away from them and fully concentrate on their studies.
To be honest, I’m really put off by the rule because it’s seriously affected my studies and daily life. I mean, I need to use the laptop to go over the lessons while I’m at the dorm in the evening. Also, sometimes I need to use my phone to get in touch with my parents. However, the rule has made such things totally impossible.
Not only me, almost everyone else in our school finds this rule off-putting. In fact, since the rule was introduced, it’s been completely counterproductive and it has caused loads of complaints. We’ve argued with the school for many times about it, hoping that the rule can be bended or a happy medium could be found because it truly has got in the way of our school life, but the school just wouldn’t give in, insisting that the rule is unchangeable, which is really a shame.
Anyway, although I find the rule totally unreasonable, I have no choice but to follow it, because if you break the rule, you get your device confiscated and you get a demerit. So for that reason, everyone seems to have resigned to it and that’s why I don’t like that rule at all.
