First, I believe children can understand the notion of responsibility better if they have a pet, because keeping a pet is not the job for a day. It’s a long-term responsibility. They can’t just quit. They need to continue to be responsible for the pet, even if they don’ t feel like doing it. Also, children can learn to be more caring and attentive, since it takes a lot of work to learn to how to take care of another creature.
