I love to watch table tennis and I have so much to say about this fascinating sport.
I’m a big fan of it not only because it’s our national sport, you know, when it comes to table tennis, we always see three Chinese national flags rising together in Olympic games. I’m fascinated by it also because it’s a sport that requires complicated skills and quick reaction. The players have to be flexible and agile, and the pace of the game is so fast, every time I watch it, it just keeps me on the edge of my seat.
And also, this sport can be entertaining and pleasant to watch, ‘cause most of our national team players are so handsome and cute. My favorite one is Zhang Jike, who’s a young male player. I watched all his games. And the most memorable one is the time he played against a Japanese player during last Olympic Games. In the first round, he was so not himself, I mean, he made so many rookie mistakes. Maybe it’s because the game was so early in the morning, he still felt a little dozy. So he lost the first round. His coach shouted at him, ‘What are you doing? Wake up, it’s Olympic Games for God’s sake!’ And in the second round, magically, he became a completely different person, or to be exact, the player we know has finally returned. He had a big lead at the end of the second round, and in the last round, he beat his opponent like it’s just a piece of cake.
So you see, table tennis can be exciting as well as dramatic.
