大作文
Some college freshmen find that the courses they choose are not suitable for them. What are the causes of this? What can be done to solve the problem?
Nowadays, college subjects and majors have reached such an immense number in order to meet thea wide range ofdemands for various positions caused by the technological advancement and specific division of labor. College freshmen may find themselves have difficulties in choosing courses or doing it unwisely.
They may find the new sessions and lectureunsuitable due to the influence of parents, stereotypes of once popular majors and inadequate understanding. In terms of parental guidance, high school graduates might have taken majors that parents arbitrarily conceive to be popular and in great demand but that actually neither suit their offspring nor in short supplyany more. Another reason of the unreasoning choice is that students and their family have been fed with wrong information, which may include inaccuracy of course contents, false anticipation of employment and so forth. For those given the right to decide their majors, it is likely that they may pick out the courses assumed to be appealing but when the lectures commence, they are astonished to ascertain the fact that the complexity and contents have been way more underestimated and tedious than what have been imagined.
If this mismatch were to be dealt with, certain guidance from different parties should be involved. In regard to parents, they should encourage their pupils to explore and unearth the lot of exaltation and gift instead of compulsorily cultivate some mainstream interests. In association with school authorities before college, certain planning projects can be arranged to give brief introduction of each major, help establish the link between majors and career and analyse student’s situation individually. On a larger scale, government should organize pilot programsin which high school students are offered the opportunities to communicate with college graduates on this matter.
In conclusion, the poor choice of majors and subjects leads to huge cost both in time and energy and pre-education of this field is the key to its prevention.
