Some people believe that university education should focus on the skills of employment for the future. Others think it should focus on academic study only. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
范文：
With the duties of pushing boundaries of knowledge and promoting social changes, universities are generally believed to cultivate intellects in many fields so focus merely on academic studies. However, others claim that higher education should get students better-prepared with skills for future employment.
The point of vocational training in university stands to reason. In the social context, partial purpose of the university has changed to a focus on social mobility which requires new graduates to follow. For example, graduates are supposed to have acquired skills in digital office appliances right after their graduation as these applications have been widely acknowledged and used in modern offices worldwide. If the operation skills were not gained during college, new employees would have to struggle and even be left out. Today’s truth is that related courses have been set up and companies are glad to accept these well-trained candidates in order to save costs and enjoy improved efficiency.
However, academic and scientific progress is still the primary focal point for universities. In comparison to practical but superficial working skills, university has been granting school leavers opportunities to enjoy diving deeply into subjects that they are passionate about and eventually achieve higher order cognitive skills. The two benefits have exerted major influences on arts and science as well as extended territory of human cognition, which hold way further meanings in the long term.
In my opinion, higher education should help learners attain an entrepreneurial mindset, that is to satisfy their immediate needs. But more importantly, dissemination and pursuit spirit of academic knowledge for developments of human civilizations should also be encouraged.
