范文:
Music is appreciated by mankind in different zones, ages and cultural backgrounds. There is well-known saying that music has always been, is and will be the universal language of all human beings and I partially agree with this belief.
Its continuity in the past and the future is ensured and certainly guaranteed. Music has a basic function of behavior adjustment that has been used since its birth. For example, the primitive form of music like the drum beats and horn blares can encourage soldiers in battlefields. Other performances like soft music in cafes or psychological counseling centres as well as sad musical pieces in tragic movies also help adjust audience’s mood and actions.
However, the word used in this opinion - universal - should be reconsidered. If it refers to common, then most people agrees as this certain kind of language, particularly those classic compositions, conveys feelings that are understood and shared by global listeners for centuries. Then, if it means its capacity of usage in all human skills, interests and subjects, it will be totally denied. Although the so-called language carries certain implications, it contains great ambiguity, which means the lack of precision. Daily social occasions and scientific researches demand vocal and verbal communications to be accurate, whereas music can by no means replace written languages like English and Chinese.
In conclusion, music, as part of human heritage, can be utilized across generations and cultures, but the practical use in fields demanding precision are quite limited despite its aesthetics and adjusting functions.
