“搬家转学”这个话题,大家有没有想过可以跟“学校规定”合并到一起?剧情就是,转到新学校,遇到新规定,极其不适应。之前我们说过学校反对puppy love的规定,在这前面加上“转学”的情节,就OK了:
I’d like to talk about the time I transferred to a new school. That was many years ago when I was still in junior high school. At that time, I lived pretty far away from my old school. Every day I had to waste about more than an hour on the road. So my mom thought… well, she wanted to make things easier for me, so she thought it would be better for me to transfer to a school that is close to my home. So, that’s how I became a transfer student.
Everything went really well, I mean, the teachers and classmates were really nice to me, and I made several good friends in the first couple of weeks, but the thing is, it took me a while to adapt to the policies there.
For example, it has a zero-tolerance policy about puppy love. My new school doesn’t allow us to have a romantic relationship. And just to avoid this possibility, we even can’t have a desk mate of the opposite sex. And if we get caught, our parents would be called to our principle’s office and have a serious talk.
之后,就是阐述一下学校这样做的理由,再加上自己反驳该政策的理由。不过,如果问的是转学经历,那么就言简意赅的说几句就好了,因为我们一共只需要聊两分钟:
I know their intentions were good, I mean, they wanted us to concentrate on our study, and not to be distracted by this puppy love thing. But you know, it’s human nature to find another person to love and care about at that age. So you see, the rule is against human nature.
Actually, I strongly believe that we can benefit a lot from a romantic relationship. First of all, we can learn how to care about another person, and it helps us grow. Also, in this relationship, we can learn how to deal with conflicts and frictions, which makes us more mature. Plus, I’ve seen so many couples who got accepted to famous universities together, so it has no negative effect on our study at all.
So that’s the reason why I think this rule is horribly unreasonable.
