Well, the person I once helped is my neighbor, but we didn’t know each other until he knocked on my door a few weeks ago.
The other day, my mom told me that my next-door neighbor moved away, and few days later, we got a new neighbor, but maybe we’ve got different schedules, we never had the chance to meet.
One day, there was a knock on my door, and when I answered it, I found an old man standing in front of me, with a big box in his arms. He introduced himself as my new neighbor, and I was like, wow, it was so nice to finally meet you.
He explained that a few days ago, his son who works in another city bought him a laptop, but he didn’t know the first thing about computers and stuff, so he came to me for help. I followed him to his house, and I helped him set up the WIFI system, and downloaded some chatting software and I taught him how to type. Surprisingly he’s such a quick learner, although he could type with only two figures, he can type really fast.
We had such a good time that we lost track of time. Before we knew it, it was already dark. So he offered to treat me to dinner, you know, to return the favor. And during dinner, I knew that he is a retired math teacher from a local high school, and a few years ago, his wife passed away. Now he lives alone, and his children are all working in different cities. He only gets to see them once a year during Spring Festival.
So I’m really glad that with my help, now he can video chat with his children and feels less lonely.
